ABOUT

Areas of Expertise

Catalyst for Communities offers a growing library of ready-to-use public health materials designed to meet the unique needs of diverse communities. You can view these resources for free to support local health education efforts—or purchase customizable versions that you can brand with your own logo, local data, and messaging.

Our work in health literacy focuses on empowering individuals and communities with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make informed decisions about their health. We create culturally responsive, easy-to-understand resources and deliver education that breaks down complex health information—bridging gaps in access, comprehension, and trust. Whether it's navigating the healthcare system, interpreting public health messages, or managing chronic conditions, we equip communities with the tools they need to thrive.

Rural health focuses on improving the well-being of people living in small towns and remote areas, where access to healthcare is often limited. Rural residents tend to face higher rates of chronic conditions like heart disease and obesity, yet they often have fewer healthcare providers and facilities nearby. Challenges such as long travel distances, lack of insurance, and limited broadband for telehealth contribute to these disparities . At Catalyst for Communities, we work to bridge these gaps by providing accessible, culturally relevant health education and resources tailored to the unique needs of rural populations.

Public health prevention focuses on keeping people healthy by addressing problems before they start. This includes things like vaccines, health education, screenings, and policies that support healthy environments. At Catalyst for Communities, we create tools and resources that promote prevention—especially in rural and underserved areas—so communities can live healthier, longer lives.

Youth tobacco cessation is increasingly focused on combating the rise in vaping, which has become the most common form of tobacco use among teens. Nicotine exposure during adolescence can interfere with brain development, affecting attention, learning, and impulse control. At Catalyst for Communities, we develop educational tools and resources to help youth quit vaping and prevent initiation.

Minority populations often face unique health challenges due to systemic inequities like racism, language barriers, and limited access to care. These populations may include Black and African American communities, Hispanic and Latino populations, Indigenous and Native American tribes, Asian American and Pacific Islanders, LGBTQ+ individuals, immigrants and refugees, and people with disabilities.

Each group may encounter different health disparities—such as higher rates of chronic disease, mental health concerns, or limited access to preventive care—often shaped by social, economic, and cultural factors. At Catalyst for Communities, we’re committed to advancing health equity by developing inclusive, culturally tailored materials and initiatives that reflect the real needs of these communities and help close the health gap.

We are a social enterprise acting as a non-profit. We intentionally chose not to apply as a nonprofit in order to retain full control over our business operations, allowing us the flexibility to innovate and respond quickly to community needs. However, we deeply value the mission-driven spirit of nonprofit work and operate with that same commitment—prioritizing impact over profit in all that we do.
